Meet me by the gate But remember that it’s not that hard When there’s only, there’s only one yard I kissed her in the site of his gun I wonder if he knew this was love He keeps watching, so we wouldn’t go far Meet me at midday, On the diamond where the baseballs played I wanna talk, about a plan I want to talk Escape, I’m gonna make it out someday I’m going straight over the wall And if they shoot me down, I wouldn’t even know at all She said, hang around Like a ghost, in a bookshelf I found you, don’t leave now She said, stick around It’s so lonely, so ghostly But mostly, I just miss you dearly The barbers got a blade He comes around once a week Sometimes you close your eyes and you hope he might cut too deep For a pack of cigarettes he’ll push down He’ll send you straight to hell boy, A small price to pay, if you really want to get away

Loop 05:16
I don’t want to be safe and warm, I want to be danger and cold Send shivers down your spine from time to time Make you want me more, until you’re knocking on my door As it echoes down the hall and off the floor Take the time to tell the one you love, Just a little might mean a ton, It could mean everything I don’t want to feel this no more, high low I feel sick now And these thoughts down memory lane all seem the same Killing time in a noisy mind, I can’t find no rhyme or reason To spend my days sitting ‘round thinking what I’ve done Take the time to tell the one you love, Just a little might be enough, It could mean everything I’m on the turn of a low tide On the cusp of a high And it feels nice On the brink of a new dream The cup now seems half full And it’s wonderful

Sink 05:28
I saw you pull up & with the engine off You cried, staying outside. I heard you downstairs it carried through the hall All night, tortured silence Alone, alone, alone No surprise, no surprises love Just how long will you sink alone Is there heaven in your eyes or are you just faking it Is there heaven in your eyes No surprise, no surprises love Just how long will you sink alone How low, how shallow No surprise, no surprises love You grab the blanket & turn yourself away Sleep tight Dreaming away Alone, alone, alone Is there heaven in your eyes or are you just faking it Is there heaven in your eyes Is there something in your heart is it something that you regret Is there heaven in your eyes No surprise, no surprises love Just how long will you sink alone How low, how shallow No surprise, no surprises love

This town this town Boy it brings me down I'm glad I got out Did it for myself Thirty thousand people and they're all doing the same thing Brings me down Down

As you choke the tears back As you walk away I get it, I get it Woke up in a cold sweat Without you by my side I get it, I get it Maybe I've had it, maybe I'm wrecked Maybe I could be a better man Maybe I'm fed up, maybe I'm weak Maybe I should be a better man As show me your back As you turn away I get it, I get it My words cut the deepest My words make you hurt I get it, I get it I should just stay quiet Keep it all inside I get it, I get it Maybe I've had it, maybe I'm wrecked Maybe I could be a better man Maybe I'm fed up, maybe I'm weak Maybe I should be a better man

about

The main difference between the first and second EP is time itself. When we went into record our first EP we had only been a band a few months and the songs we recorded were the first we had written. Over time we were able to build on our sound and spend more time developing songs in order to find our own way. Johnny wrote songs for the second EP on an acoustic guitar so there was no hiding behind effects and found this way he could pay more attention to the chord progressions and melodies. Songs came in very ‘unfinished’ however so that when we worked on them as a band they had a lot of room to move. Favourite songs on the EP are those that came out nothing like how they were expected, whether that be due to a guitar part added or bass or drum rhythm that changed the dynamic completely. In contrast songs written by Chris were generally completed and worked over by everyone adding their own influences. Similarly, with allowing more time each song was developed in a very natural way. Haunted Isles is very much where we are at as a band now. The progression, change and maturity is all evident.

about

Bloodhounds On My Trail Melbourne, Australia

A love of shoegaze bands of the late 1980s to early 90s provided the catalyst for the formation of the band. Since then, members Johnny Green (guitar, vocals), Chris Donaldson (guitar), Che Walden (bass) and Nik Donaldson (drums) have sought to fuse the rhythmic underpinnings of bands like the Velvet Underground and the Stooges with the dream haze of Cocteau Twins and Slowdive. ... more
